Mumbai did win the trophy. That was so great. Finally a team I support wins something. Gunners lost the bloody Premiership title and Lakers are down 2-0 in their playoff semifinals. The less I say of Barcelona this season the better. It hasn't been a good year for me sportwise. I only hope I'm able to keep up the cycling and sweating. Feels good cycling nowadays. On other fronts I keep being amazed by the ease with which a good actor slips into a role. Saw 'The Recruit' yesterday with Al Pacino. He makes it look so effortless. No major dramatics no fireworks just cool effortless professionalism. Someday I'll be able to cycle the way Pacino acts. On other fronts I'm buying a new new new DVD player. Now am off to bed. Have to be up bright and early and hopefully watch the Lakers pound Spurs.....

I finally did something I'm not very proud of yesterday. I went and joined a gym. Dammit god knows what next ? Plastic Surgery ? Why this sudden obsession with my physique ? So far been telling myself round is a shape. Anyway on the upside looks like Mumbai might actually win the Ranji trophy. GO Mumbai !. I met a lot of old friends yesterday. It's amazing how much people don't change but at the same time change. What is it with people that at some level you seem static but at another level you have moved so far along. Also the NBA playoffs are on. The athleticism of those 6 foot giants is amazing. Actually why do I get more emotional about Mumbai than I do about India ? Is it that I care more for Mumbai as a city than for India as a nation ? The upside of the sabbatical (Rikhav calls it a break since it is unlikely to be more than 3 months) is that I can read a lot more. Unfortunately I seem to read mostly about food. I should be reading stuff like "Burn Fat Burn" but instead end up reading memorable 11 course meals I have eaten. Yeesh. Beginning to sound more and more like a Wodehousian character.

I'm in mourning over the last couple of days. Arsenal blew the championship. I now begin to understand that supporting a team is not easy. Somehow it's easy when India plays I don't get so emotional. But somehow supporting a team in a league which has no relevance to me is more emotional. Is this what they mean by saying distance makes the heart go fonder ? - That's a great line for a long distance phone company ad !. Remember u heard it here first. Woke up this morning coughing - Wondered briefly whether I had SARS .... Went for the great steam engine ride on Sunday. It was fun. The coaches were all old style coaches and it was great being pulled by steam. The downside was that the return was by a filthy diesel engine train. Yech.
